Hayley Gwilliam’s statement
I am a councillors for St Thomas ward in Swansea and Cabinet Member for Community Support Services. I’m passionate about ensuring we live in a fair, resilient, connected society. As a mother, having lived with a disability and having been a carer myself, my lived experience would inform my role on the WEC, if elected.
I would report regularly to the members I represent. I’ve worked as a legal secretary and for charities, at the same time as studying for my degree in social work, so I’m no stranger to admin and I live by, “Nothing about us, without us”.
Julie Edwards’ statement
I’m enthusiastic and committed, with values and beliefs developed from my lived experiences. An experienced Youth and Community Development practitioner, I have and continue to have, the privilege of working within our communities to understand challenges but explore collaborative solutions for positive change.
Progress happens when we work together; appreciating the contribution we can all make. I believe in people having a voice and will strive for fairness and equity. A councillor since 2019, I stood to make a difference and remain committed to this pledge. I’m also a member of the Co-operative party and Unison.
SOUTH EAST WALES
Siân Boyles’ statement
A committed socialist and trade unionist, I’ve been a party member most of my life; holding many roles, currently CLP secretary.
Labour is best when members are at its heart. As your WEC representative I will be a vocal advocate for ordinary members and party democracy.
If elected my priorities are:
– advocating socialist policies for the Senedd 2026 manifesto,
– ensuring members are central to Senedd candidate selections,
– ensuring CLPs are fully supported in the 2024 GE, helping to deliver a Labour Government,
– providing reports for Secretaries to share.
MID & WEST WALES
Christine Hardacre’s statement
(Nominated by Ceredigion Preseli, Dwyfor Meirionnydd*, Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr)
A committed socialist and trade unionist, I’ve been a party member most of my life; holding many roles, including CLP secretary.
Labour is at its best when members are at its heart. As your WEC representatives for four years I have been a vocal advocate for ordinary members and party democracy.
If re-elected my priorities are:
advocating socialist policies for the Senedd 2026 manifesto,
ensuring members are central to Senedd candidate selections,
ensuring CLPs are fully supported in the 2024 GE, helping to deliver a Labour Government,
continue providing reports for Secretaries to share.
Dylan Lewis-Rowlands’ statement
(Nominated by Ceredigion Preseli*, Dwyfor Meirionnydd)
The WEC is an important part of our party, and representatives have an duty to uphold party democracy, to get the party election ready, and to represent members in their area on the internal issues they care about.
I care about the effective and efficient running of our Welsh Labour Party. As your WEC rep, I would prioritise being an accessible and responsive member, giving regular reports and working on the issues which are important to you.
My priorities are:
Devolving the rulebook
Increasing Welsh Language engagement
Fighting for democracy
Representing members
Working with trade unions and affiliates.
NORTH WALES
Jackie Owen’s statement
(Nominated by Alyn and Deeside, Wrexham*)
I’m Jackie Owen, a member of Wrexham CLP (former Clwyd South CLP secretary) and I am asking members for their vote to ensure the grassroots of our Party have a real voice on the Welsh Executive Committee.
I am a Registered Nurse, member of UNISON & Unite and the Secretary of the Wales Co-operative Party Council.
I am an experienced campaigner, organising the last 5 election campaigns in Clwyd South including doubling the number of Labour County Councillors in 2022.
I have extensive policy making experience including representing CLPs on the committee that drafted the last Welsh Labour Senedd Manifesto.
Emily Owen’s statement
I am Deputy Leader of Conwy County Borough Council, a twice General Election candidate and committed trade unionist.
I am a grassroots community campaigner and have extensive experience in fighting for those without a voice.
As someone who has been involved with (and represented) the party at different levels, I know there’s still more work to do to ensure our structures are accessible to everyone.
If elected I would ensure the Party has a member led focus, with policies that ensure more powers are held in North Wales.
